Riga Technical University

Riga Technical University is the first technical university in the Baltic countries – its history dates back to 1862 when Riga Polytechnic was founded. Long lasting traditions, advanced teaching methods, new technologies and innovative approach provide the University with the opportunity to ensure research excellence and offer exciting full-time or part-time studies in RTU in Engineering Sciences, Technologies, Natural and Environmental Sciences as well as in Architecture and Engineering Economics.

Riga Technical University is an accredited internationally recognised European university that consists of 8 faculties and 35 institutes. It is the second largest university in Latvia by number of students, and it has the greatest number of state funded students.

It is ensured that each student of Riga Technical University gains practical experience during internships not only in Latvia but also abroad. More than 200 agreements on cooperation have been signed with European and other foreign universities.

 

St. Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences

St. Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences SPIIRAS was founded in 1978. Now Institute is included into Department of Nanotechnologies and Information Technologies of the Russian Academy of Science. It is the only representative of this Department in the North-West of Russia.

SPIIRAS Research Directions are:

  • Fundamentals of the Informatization of the Society and Regions, Regional Information and Computer Networks and Systems, Information Security.

  • Theoretic Fundamentals of Developing Hardware and Software Complexes aimed at Real Time Information Processing.

  • Fundamentals, Models and Methods of Information Processes Study in Complex (Socio-, Eco-, Bio-, Geo-, etc) Systems.

  • Theoretic Fundamentals of Developing Information Technologies for Intelligent Automation Systems of Research, Control, Manufacturing, Nanotechnologies and other Activities’ Fields.

In recent years, SPIIRAS is focused on elaboration of space-based information technologies. The new Centre of Innovation and Educational Research is established as a division of SPIIRAS in order to provide space-based services.
